Did Facebook Change Its Layout for Pages From 3 Columns to 2?

No: It was just a bug

A cleaner look for Facebook pages?

Facebook appeared to have quietly swapped out its three-column layout for pages in favor of a cleaner, two-column look, but there was a reason for the quiet: The change was caused by a bug.

Steven Musil of CNET was one of the first to report on the different layout, and the Social Pro Daily Facebook page featured the same look Wednesday morning.

However, a Facebook spokesperson said, “We recently experienced a bug that impacted the way pages were displayed on desktop when searching for a page. This bug has been fixed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

Last August, the social network implemented a host of updates to pages on its flagship mobile applications with a focus on local businesses, including replacing the reviews section with a revamped recommendations section, giving calls to action more prominent placement and enabling pages to share Stories.
