Cool And Weird Android Apps

I am always on the lookout for new apps to try on my Android phone, so this article from Computerworld caught my eye…

8 weird but cool Android apps

I don’t consider myself a Trekkie, but I couldn’t resist installing the Tricorder application. Beside the sounds and look of the application, it displays some interesting things utilizing the sensors in the phone. For example, the Acoustic section samples sounds around the phone and displays them in waveform and spectrum graphs. The Geographic section shows a working compass, along with your estimated latitude and longitude based on the cellular radio connection. The EM Spectrum section shows the cellular and Wi-Fi radio strengths. As useful as all those sections are, I think the Solar Activity section is the coolest, showing a picture of the sun along with charts of the protons and electron output, all based on data retrieved from the Internet.

The article provides a brief introduction to seven additional interesting applications, which you will find in the Android Market.
