China Blocks Twitter, Facebook

The Chinese government is at it again, blocking Twitter, removing unapproved references to last weekend’s riots in the western region of Xinjiang from search engines and banning access to Facebook. This comes two weeks after the government blocked most Google services, including Gmail, Google Apps and Google Talk, TechCrunch reported.

According to Web2Asia’s George Godula:

As of today 8 p.m. Chinese time, Facebook seems not to be accessible from most parts of China Mainland anymore. On the China Telecom connection of our Shanghai office, the service vanished at around 7:45 p.m.
