Cats, Bats, and Google Images [Podcast]

On today’s Morning Media Menu, GalleyCat editor Jason Boog discussed the feel-good stories of the week, which included a film festival for Internet cat videos, a new tool for translating words into pictures, and the surprising inspiration for the latest Batman movie.

It was only a matter of time before someone created a film festival celebrating the fine art of Internet cat videos. In the podcast, we discussed the various sub-genres we hoped to see, as well as what cat videos were like before social media.

Another thing that made us smile this week was an Image Language Translator tool that converts words and phrases into pictures pulled from Google Images. We talked about some early applications for the tool and the accuracy of the results.

Boog also mentioned that the upcoming Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, was actually inspired by a classic Charles Dickens novel.
