Another Buzzy Kindle-Only eBook

Amazon’s really piling on the Kindle news this week, clearly trying to head off Apple tablet buzz. Today, it’s another announcement of a Kindle-only book, this time by Treasury secretary Henry Paulson’s former speechwriter Stacy Carlson. It’s a book on the financial meltdown called “You, Me & The US Economy,” published by Rosetta Books, and it’s only available in the Kindle Store for the next year.

Here’s a bit on the book from Amazon:

Carlson was Speechwriter to Treasury Secretary Paulson from May 2007 until January 2009. She was the Secretary’s silent scribe for all Treasury issues, from taxes to housing to China to the 2008 financial crisis. Carlson was also Director of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Washington, D.C., office; Western Region Political Director on the 2000 Bush for President campaign, and Staff Director of the Committee on House Administration at the U.S. House of Representatives. “You, Me, & the U.S. Economy” takes a plainspoken look inside the Treasury Department and explains the events and issues through a personal narrative.

This straight-and-only-to-Kindle strategy is quickly becoming not only a means of quickly bringing a book to market, but of generating buzz around books that might otherwise go unnoticed.
