Video games were a major topic on Twitter in the first half of 2020, with Animal Crossing continuing to lead gaming conversation on the platform following its launch March 20. Animal Crossing: New Horizons was the most-tweeted-about game on Twitter as of March, and it also took the top spot for the first six months of the year.
Twitter said over 1 billion gaming-related tweets were shared during the first half of 2020. For this time period, the social network saw a 71% year-over-year increase in conversation volume and a 46% year-over-year increase in unique authors.
Globally, the most-tweeted-about games in the first half of 2020 were:

- Fate/Grand Order
- Final Fantasy
- Disney: Twisted-Wonderland
- Fortnite
- Ensemble Stars!
- Knives Out
- Apex Legends
- Identity V
- PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
