A new Adweek-Morning Consult poll shows that American consumers are divided on whether Jeep should change the name of its Cherokee and Grand Cherokee models following calls from the Cherokee Nation to rebrand the SUVs that have used its name for more than 40 years.

The poll found 30% of respondents either strongly or somewhat support the name change, while 37% strongly or somewhat oppose it and 33% have no opinion.

When you drill down into the results, however, you start to see how these opinions align with age, politics and geography:

  • 42% of millennials strongly or somewhat support the change while 24% of boomers and 23% of Gen Xers support it.
