A Bonkers ’70s Car Chase Ends in a 3-Way Flavor Collision to Announce the Newest Coke

Wieden + Kennedy introduces Orange Vanilla Coke

A new Coca-Cola flavor is hitting the streets this week for the first time since Vanilla Coke debuted in 2007. And what better way to announce this flavor combination than a wall-busting, tire-screeching delivery truck chase worthy of The French Connection?

In the launch spot for the new flavor, Wieden + Kennedy Portland goes full retro to create a 1970s-esque cinematic chase involving Coke, an ice cream truck and a delivery of oranges fresh from the orchard. What looks like a Grand Theft Auto expansion come to life is obviously just a metaphor for the impact of three flavors coming together.

“Our brief for the campaign was to have fun with flavors,” says Kate Carpenter, brand director of Coca-Cola. “We think this work brings to life the Coca-Cola personality in a playful, unexpected way.”

In addition to Orange Vanilla Coke, the beverage giant is also launching an Orange Vanilla Coke Zero. The flavors will be pushed through just about all manner of advertising, from social to out-of-home. TV spots will be running throughout live broadcasts of NCAA March Madness.
