LinkedIn Clocks In At 29 Million More Active Users Than Twitter [STATS]

LinkedIn’s third quarter earnings results reveal that the professional networking site has 259 million monthly active users, up from 238 million in the previous quarter, reports Mashable.

That means LinkedIn has at least 29 million more users than Twitter, which has 230 million active users according to its updated S-1, up from 218 million at the end of June 2013.

So LinkedIn is even gaining on Twitter in active user growth margin, which hurts even more given that Twitter’s quarter-on-quarter monthly active user growth has been decreasing in percentage since December 2012.

LinkedIn’s stock has also more than doubled in the year to date – no IPO pressure, Twitter.

Why the LinkedIn love vs. taste for Twitter? Seems like Twitter doesn’t know, given its slew of updates that seem to be desperately asking for new users – conversation threads, more visual tweets, recommendation notifications.

It will be interesting to see how Twitter’s IPO impacts its user growth rate, for sure.
