Audi Doubles Expectations For Webcast Ad

If you watched any of the inauguration coverage online, you were no doubt roadblocked by an advertisement for Audi.

Audi was the exclusive sponsor of the Webcasts on CBSNews.com, msnbc.com, ABCNews.com, the WashingtonPost.com and other sites. Beet.TV’s Andy Plesser talked with Audi executives who had expected 30 million views of the pre-roll ad.

Well, they got their money’s worth with 70 million views.

msnbc.com gave the most views with 16.3 million; ABCNews.com gave 15.9 million; washingtonpost.com, 14 million and CBSNews.com, 11.4 million.

But the surge in views is no doubt do in part to the stalling of the stream for many users, including us. The freeze-up meant users would refresh and the ad would roll again.
