Everything You Need To Know About The New YouTube Concert Tour

YouTube fans, rejoice! The DigiTour, YouTube's first ever music tour, is just around the corner. Kicking off in Los Angeles on April 12, the DigiTour is hitting a city near you, featuring all your favorite YouTubers from MysteryGuitarMan to Dave Days, The Gregory Brothers, DeStorm, David Choi, Ricky Ficarelli and more. We've got the skinny on everything you need to know about the DigiTour including cities, dates, performers and an interview with the tour's founders. What is the DigiTour? The DigiTour is the first ever, nation wide, large scale YouTube tour, featuring all your favorite, musically-inclined YouTubers. But why listen to me tell you about it when you can hear about it straight from the performers. Check out the video below to find out exactly what the DigiTour is from DeStorm, Dave Days, MysteryGuitarMan and Ricky Ficarelli. Who's Performing? The four YouTubers in the video below aren't the only ones who you'll see on the DigiTour. The complete lineup features Dave Days, DeStorm, Ricky Ficarelli, The Gregory Brothers, MysteryGuitarMan, Savannah Outen, Nice Peter, David Choi, The Key Of Awesome, Christina Grimmie, Meghan Tonjes, Wheezy Waiter, Kimmi Smiles and special guests along the way. Keep in mind that not all of these performers are going to be in every single city. You can check out the schedule on the DigiTour website to find out which YouTubers are coming to a city near you. Who came up with this brilliant idea? The DigiTour was founded by Sarah Evershed, Chris Rojas and Meridith Valiando of DigiTour Media LLC. Sarah has a background in reality TV and documentary production, but became involved in the YouTube world about 2 years ago when she was producing for a big YouTuber. Sarah started The Cloud Media, a managing firm representing some of the top YouTubers, about a year ago. Chris Rojas is a multiplatinum music producer who has produced and written for Pink, the Backstreet Boys, Flo-Rida and more. He owns RMI Management and co-owns Greenhouse Entertainment, an artist development firm. Meridith is Senior Director of Creative at Rondor Music International/Universal Music Publishing group and has worked as a talent scout for the last decade. Sarah tells me, "Meridith and I had a client in common and when we met for the first time I was blown away with what she was doing in the music industry and she was fascinated by the YouTube world. We sat down to figure out how to work together and the logical intersection was a music tour with YouTube musicians." Meridith says, "As a music vet I have seen the industry take a serious hit in the digital age with a decline in record sales. As many music executives fear the Internet; through Sarah I've learned to embrace it as the future and the source of what will inevitably be a stream of revenue that will reinvent the music industry as we know it. Sarah and I put our heads together and decided to put the crÃ¨me de la crÃ¨me of social media mega stars on a music tour! Up until now most of our stars' fans have seen them only online so this gave us a unique opportunity to connect the traditional music industry with the new wave and bring the stars off the screen." I asked if YouTube was involved in the planning or sponsorship of the tour. Sarah told me, "YouTube knows of the tour and loves it! They have been wonderful at working with us on our channel and giving us permission to use their logos but as of right now, they're not involved on the ground level." What can we expect from the performance? I was curious about what we could expect from the performance. After all, many of the YouTubers who will be on the tour are known for their mashup videos, one-man-band clips where they play every instrument and sing, and crazy animations. Take, for instance, MysteryGuitarMan's most recent video. Obviously he can't clone himself for the live show, so what can we expect? Meridith says, "The DigiTour is not your average music concert. We will be giving our fans what they want, which is fast paced and energized entertainment. Our fans are used to watching the stars in short three minute videos, so to create this same stimulation live we are going to have videos projected on the backdrop, some very special collaborations with our stars, and a variety element that will keep all our fans on the edge of their seats!" Sarah tells me, "People are in for a real treat with this show! DeStorm is going to be interacting with a large screen we have as a backdrop doing some of his most popular songs like "Rapping Movie Titles." MysteryGuitarMan has some surprises up his sleeve that I won't give away, but let's just say they involve a looping pedal and lots of strobe lights!" How can fans follow the tour from home? Even if you can make it to the performance in your city, odds are you won't be able to make it to every city on the tour. At least not in person. But the good news is, you can easily follow the entire tour from home. Meridith tells me, "We have Brett the Intern as our official DigiTour Vlogger who will be heading up our exclusive behind the scenes - on the road, on the buss, and on the stage footage."
