New similarities have emerged between recent scams on Twitter and Facebook, highlighting the growing threat of scams spreading across all social networks, according to online security firm BitDefender.

The warning to all social network users to more closely monitor their online accounts comes in the wake of the #howlong Twitter scam, recently reported by the Sophos naked security blog. Follow up tracking of the #howlong Twitter attack by the online threats team at BitDefender discovered that similar threats on Facebook had been created by the same users.
The similarities between the two attacks suggest the authors have found that social networks are an effective platform for targets, and are looking to replicate their Facebook success, according to the
