The History Channel’s Pawn Stars had made its debut in July 2009. Nearly a year in, Gold & Silver Pawn Shop—the real-life storefront business that anchored the show—had hit the jackpot.

From an average of 70 customers a day, the store was pulling in more than 1,000.
