Facebook Podcasts to Go Silent June 3

It will be radio silence for podcasts on Facebook starting June 3, as Meta informed its partners in the initiative that their podcasts will be removed from its platform altogether on that date.

Ashley Carman of Bloomberg obtained the company’s note to its partners, in which it informed them that no new podcasts can be added starting this week, and it plans to scrap short-form audio product Soundbites, as well as its central audio hub.

A spokesperson for Meta confirmed the move, saying, “We’re constantly evaluating the features we offer so that we can focus on the most meaningful experiences.”

Meta also wrote in the note to partners that they will be tasked with informing users that podcasts will no longer be available, as Facebook will provide no alerts on the topic, and that Live Audio Rooms will be integrated into Facebook Live so that creators can opt to go live with audio...
