Ecuador Won’t Return Fugitive and Former Facebook Claimant Paul Ceglia to the U.S.

His family had a third child while in the country, and he is now subject to court-ordered child support

Self-proclaimed Facebook co-founder Paul Ceglia is back in the news, as Steven Musil of CNET reported that Ecuadorian president Lenin Moreno denied an extradition request by the U.S.

Ceglia was arrested in Ecuador last August, when he began battling extradition to the U.S.

After fleeing the U.S. in March 2015 with his wife, their two children and their dog, the family had a third child while in Ecuador—a son who is now 14 months old—Musil reported, making him subject to court-ordered child support in that country.

Moreno wrote in denying the extradition request, as reported by Musil, “As a protective measure against him, such order prohibits him from traveling out of the country.
