SRI Guides L.L. Bean's Search

Feb 6, 2008

- Gregory Solman

LOS ANGELES L.L. Bean has placed creative chores on its ad account into review, a company representative confirmed.

Consulting firm Select Resources International, Santa Monica, Calif., will help conduct the search for the Maine-based retailer, sources said.

Media duties are not in play. The incumbent on that portion of the business is WPP Group's MediaEdge:cia.

L.L. Bean said it currently uses several different agencies for creative.

In 2000 the company engaged Omnicom Group's Martin/Williams in Minneapolis to craft campaigns, but split with the agency in 2005, using Pile and Co. as its search consultancy. WPP Group's JWT in New York worked with the retailer briefly after that.

L.L. Bean has spent close to $25 million in U.S. measured media in each of the past two years, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
