Mitt Romney's 47 Percent Respond Via Facebook
In the 24 hours since the video of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney at a Florida fundraiser went public, Facebook and social media channels have lit up with feedback about the "47 percent" Romney seems to dismiss.
In the 24 hours since the video of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney at a Florida fundraiser went public, Facebook and social media channels have lit up with feedback about the “47 percent” Romney seems to dismiss.
Since then, the entire video was released by Mother Jones, and Romney appeared on Fox News Tuesday afternoon to respond.
Facebook users have reacted at a rapid clip by sharing charts, video, and sometimes humorous posts that are meant to be shared, liked, and commented on among their friends.
While most of the comments skewed against Romney, he did get some support from the tea party and others. The view the former Massachusetts governor shared is one that has been stated by others in the conservative movement.
President Barack Obama immediately tried to fire up his supporters, as well as the AFL-CIO and the Democratic National Committee. The president issued a fundraising appeal shortly after the video was made public Monday and posted these messages to his Facebook page.
Three Facebook pages have already cropped up, albeit with very small followings: “Romney Hates Us 47%,” “Letters to Romney from the 47%,” and “I agree with Romney, Phuck 47% of Americans.”
