Facebook Users In Ireland Love Rihanna, But Are Leaving The Site Quickly

As many people this weekend will be celebrating St. Patrick's Day, which honors one of Ireland's patron saints, we figured it would be prudent to take a look at Facebook's influence in that country. However, Facebook appears to be rapidly declining in Ireland, according to statistics from Quintly (formerly AllFacebook Stats) and Socialbakers.

As many people this weekend will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, which honors one of Ireland’s patron saints, we figured it would be prudent to take a look at Facebook’s influence in that country. However, Facebook appears to be rapidly declining in Ireland, according to statistics from Quintly (formerly AllFacebook Stats) and Socialbakers.

Over the past three months, Ireland has lost roughly 4 percent of its user base on Facebook (94,620 people). After peaking on Christmas 2012 at 2.3 million active users, the country is now at about 2.2 million as of March 12.

Socialbakers shows that Irish users in the 25-34 age group are leaving in the biggest numbers, with a loss of more than 29,000 users:
