5 Social Media Voting Tools That Will Help Every Voter

The 2010 midterm elections are just two weeks away. The balance of our nation's power is at stake - do you know the issues? Are you ready to cast your ballot? Whether you want to see Democrats or Republicans in power, a Tea Party upset or your favored ballot measure become law, let social networking be your guide. 1)Â MyBallot - A Facebook app with the pretense that you share everything else on Facebook, why not share your vote? You just enter your zip code into the app and it'll load a ballot with the midterm candidates and measures up for your vote. Once your ballot is complete, your Facebook friends can check out who you plan to vote for and you can see your friends' recommendations before you head to the real polls on November 2nd. Call it, social voting. 2) Google - Want to be as elections savvy as one of those talking heads on TV, without having to actually watch them? Then head over to Google's elections site where you can quickly and easily see predictions from the top sources, all in one, easy place. The main feature of the site is an interactive map, updated daily, that allows you to click any state or Congressional district and find out which party is projected to win November races for the Senate, House or governor's seat. You can pick which race you want to focus on and which pollster you want to follow, too. 3) Facebook - The social network site has created its own election tracker with random facts for every level of politico to digest. The site is posting "Races to Watch" tip sheets from now until Election Day. Tuesdays they'll focus on the U.S. House, Wednesdays the U.S. Senate and Thursdays the Governorships. In the meantime, there's links to explore, news feeds to read and politicians to poke. 4)Â Apps - If you're ready to help Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) measure the drapes in the U.S. House Speaker's office and see the GOP take back the U.S. Senate too, you must be a Proud Republican. This app gives you access to all-things Republican, including interactive forums, Republican-focused news feeds, party history, Twitter integration, the ability to call your local Member and share with other 'Proud Republicans.' And if you're a partisan on the other side, this Organizing for America app is for you. The political arm of the White House picked up where Barack Obama's '08 presidential campaign left off and, in June, released this app that delivers breaking news, lets you call your Member of Congress, connect with other voters, review talking points to share with other voters, find events and, of course, donate to the cause. 5)Â All Facebook - Convinced that politics is like high school and all that really matters is popularity? Then track the election through the "Election Tracker" on our sister site, All Facebook. Forget policy or actual, physical votes, they're tracking how the 2010 Gubernatorial, Senate and select House races are shaping up based on each candidate's Facebook fan base. For instance, right now you can see that in-cycle Democrats have 1.25+ million Facebook fans while Republicans have 3+ million fans and Independents have 46,000 fans.
