YouTube unveiled a special edition of its Ads Leaderboard for Cannes Lions, featuring the 10 most popular ads on its platform worldwide between June 1, 2020, and May 30, 2021.
The Google-owned video site said the 10 ads tallied more than 635 million views globally, and they were chosen by an algorithm that factors in not only paid views, but also organic views and audience retention.
The list was limited to one ad per brand in order to “better reflect the broad range, quality, and popularity of YouTube ads throughout the year,” the company added.
The top 10 were:
