Instagram is testing a new option that would allow its users to decide how they want to treat like counts.
The small group of people involved in the test can choose between leaving their Instagram experience as-is, not seeing like counts on other users’ posts, or turning off likes on their own posts.
A similar experience is being tested for Facebook, as well.
Instagram began testing the removal of like counts in April 2019, with people in that test group seeing the following in-application message: “We want your followers to focus on what you share, not how many likes your posts get.
