Facebook Expands Uses of Its Brand Safety Controls

Facebook Tuesday revealed expansions of its brand safety controls and updates to its Commerce & Ads IP Tool, which helps rights holders protect their intellectual property.

Copyright owners can now go through the social network’s Rights Manager to claim and collect earnings on their copyrighted content when it is published by other pages that meet Facebook’s community standards and partner monetization policies, as long as the content meets the platform’s content monetization policies.

Facebook wrote in a blog post, “Expansion of this ability gives publishing pages the opportunity to use content owned by someone else in a video they upload without it being taken down, while also expanding inventory for advertisers and providing people with compelling content that might otherwise be blocked due to copyright issues.”
