University of Chicago Press Partners With Amazon

The University of Chicago Press has formed an agreement with Amazon Digital Services to publish academic texts as eBooks.

Under the terms of the agreement, more than eighty academic and scholarly works that are released through the Chicago Distribution Center (CDC) will have the option to have their work published as eBooks in the Kindle Store.

The CDC already offers its clients eBook storage and distribution through BiblioVault — the CDC’s own digital library—but the new expansion will mean automatic distribution through Kindle.

Karen Barch, CDC’s chief operations officer had this statement: “But the addition of a streamlined and cost-effective solution for reaching Kindle customers will encourage more of our clients to dive into the e-book market.”
