Standardized Mobile DTV Could Mean $2 Billion for Broadcasters

A new study from the NAB FASTROAD (Flexible Advanced Services for Television & Radio on All Devices) technology advocacy program found that the adoption of an industry standard for delivering content to mobile devices could lead to $2 billion in revenue for the broadcast television industry by 2012, TVnewsday reports.

According to NAB’s “Study of the Impact of Multiple Systems for Mobile/Handheld Digital Television,” the success of mobile TV services can reach its full potential if a mobile/handheld digital TV standard from the Advanced Television Standards Committee is released – and universally adopted – by early next year.
