More than a thousand people packed the Waldorf Astoria Monday for the 2015 Matrix Awards. Now in its 45th year, the event honors extraordinary women who have made an impact on the communications industry.
Martha Stewart hosted this year's event. Honorees included Elle magazine editor in chief Robbie Myers; former Google executive and current CTO of the United States Megan Smith; BET chairman Debra Lee, and NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell.
On the red carpet, we caught up with several of these barrier-breaking women, including Arianna Huffington, who told us the Huffington Post is now "putting a lot of emphasis on our global presence."
We also asked several of the women what they look for when they're hiring.
