Simon & Schuster Launches Foursquare Presence
Publisher Simon & Schuster has launched a presence on location-based social networking site Foursquare.
The presence includes tips and trivia on places in the real world from authors. For example, Suzanne Corso, author of Brooklyn Story, tells fans where they can find the best cannoli in her neighborhood. Carlos Eire, a National Book Award winner, shares his favorite places in Monticello. And readers who “check-in” at the Lincoln monument in Washington DC can learn how many copies of the Gettysburg Address that former president Abraham Lincoln wrote by hand.
To promote the new presence, yesterday, S&S gave away free copies of the new thriller by Howard Gordon called Gideon’s War, to people that checked in at their office in Manhattan at 1230 Ave of the Americas.
