Scholars Seeking Richard Widmark's Hitler Youth Film

Actor Richard Widmark, who died earlier this month, had been an amateur filmmaker back in 1937. On a post-college cycling trip, he and a friend shot a short 8mm documentary about Hitler Youth camps. Film historians are keen to find the 1937 footage, but the best guess is that it was probably destroyed upon the the US’s entry into the war.

Widmark played Col. Tad Lawson, the prosecutor in the 1961 film Judgment at Nuremberg.
