Edelman plans to acquire independent communications agency DABO & CO. The agency will merge with Edelman’s United Arab Emirates operations. The new operation will encompass 150 employees with a broad range of expertise from corporate to marketing to digital. The agency will offer creative, planning, research and event management capabilities across the region.

Rubenstein Public Relations announced that Marilyn Lopez has joined the agency’s Entertainment Division as senior vice president. In her new role, Lopez will manage the media strategies for multiple clients. Most recently, she served as a senior publicist at John Doe Communications.

Nabil Ayad, founder and former director of the Diplomatic Academy in London, has joined APCO Worldwide‘s International Advisory Council (IAC). As an official of the European Commission, Reuter served as senior advisor on the China desk of the Directorate General for External Relations, minster counsellor at the EU embassy in Japan, and various roles in the competition directorate. In his new position with APCO’s IAC, Ayad is tasked with helping the agency’s clients navigate matters like climate change and the global economic recovery.

Burson-Marsteller has appointed Antoine Calendrier as Hong Kong market leader and a member of the Asia-Pacific leadership team. In his new role, he will serve as the head of Burson-Marsteller’s Hong Kong operations and leading new business development and key client portfolios. Calendrier was previously Waggener Edstrom’s GM for China.

Coyne PR has hired Luis Hernandez as its chief digital officer. In his new role, Hernandez heads a team focused on digital strategy, development, broadcast production, and project management for clients. Hernandez previously served as chief technology officer at Proof Integrated Communications, and prior to that he was MD at Burson and SVP of operations and delivery at Wunderman World Health. MSLGroup‘s UK-based sustainability unit, Salterbaxter, has hired Kristina Joss as a senior consultant in New York. In her new role, Joss will work with MSLGroup corporate and brand citizenship director Scott Beaudoin to service North American clients. Before taking on her new position, Joss served in the UK as senior corporate advisor with Prince Charles’ Business in the Community group focused on CSR. (O’Dwyer’s)

The CHR Group has acquired New York-based real estate PR business Zlokower Company. This acquisition makes Zlokower Co. the eighteenth firm held by CHR Group, whose other holdings include PR, digital marketing, package branding and advertising operations. Zlokower Co. is led by Harry Zlokower, an agency alum of the 1970s and ‘80s at Ruder Finn and Rubenstein Assocs.  (O’Dwyer’s)
