We take a look at some of the new mobile games release this week.

Are you looking for a new mobile game to try this weekend? There are plenty of new options available across mobile platforms, including Lara Croft GO, a new turn-based puzzle game from Square Enix Montreal.

Elsewhere, En Masse Entertainment released its second mobile game, a base-building combat title set in World War II: Pocket Platoons. NetEase Games also released its first mobile game in the West this week, Speedy Ninja, which combines endless running with combat and upgradeable weapons.

Finally, Night Light Interactive and Abstraction Games released the horror adventure game, Whispering Willows, on mobile, asking players to help a young girl explore a haunted mansion to find her missing father.

Here’s a look at a few other games released this week.

Bullet Boy (Free on iOS, Android) – From Kongregate and Pomelo Games, Bullet Boy is a puzzle action game inspired by the barrel cannon mechanic in Donkey Kong Country. In each level, players tap on the screen to send Bullet Boy between stationary or moving barrels, while avoiding obstacles and collecting special treasure items. Bullet Boy offers over 60 levels in its single-player mode, while players can compete against others in three randomly generated endless modes.

Power Rangers Dino Charge Rumble (Free on iOS) – From StoryToys and Saban Brands, Power Rangers Dino Charge Rumble is an interactive story app, following the new team of Power Rangers Dino Charge through an original story. Players watch the story unfold through videos, while battles introduce reflex or timing-based mini-games for players. For instance, players can charge up a punch by tapping when a moving circle reaches a stationary one, while they can charge a weapon attack by matching swipe prompts on the screen. While the base app is free to download, and offers some free content, players can unlock the full experience with an in-app purchase of $3.99. Power Rangers Dino Charge Rumble is coming soon to Android.

Calvino Noir ($3.99 on iOS) – Calvino Noir Limited has launched its first title, Calvino Noir, a film noir stealth game on iOS. The game sees players exploring environments in the ‘1930s European criminal underworld,’ and features seven levels across three acts. The game features multiple playable characters, and players can approach the game with stealth or brute force to make progress. The purchase price of $3.99 offers the first act of the game, while acts two and three are available for additional in-app purchases of $3.99 each. Calvino Noir is also available on Steam and the PlayStation Store.

Ski Safari 2 ($1.99 on iOS) – From Sleepy Z Studios, this sequel to the original Ski Safari sees players racing down three different mountains while running from an approaching disaster. To be specific, players will ski down a mountain while avoiding an avalanche, will escape a lava flow on a volcano and will run from a tornado in the desert. Players can ride animals and vehicles to unlock speed boosts, and can perform tricks as they make their way down each mountain. New multiplayer functionality allows up to four players to race against each other in multiple game modes. Challenge Attack, for instance, sees players completing objectives and stealing points from their opponents, while the Ring Dash mode challenges players to be the first to collect 200 rings. Ski Safari 2 is coming to Android in September.

The Walking Dead: Road to Survival (Free on iOS, Android) – Created by Scopely, in partnership with The Walking Dead series creator, Robert Kirkman, and Skybound Entertainment, The Walking Dead: Road to Survival is based on the franchise’s graphic novels, and sees players building a base and completing battles against zombies, humans and other players to survive. As players complete story missions, they may be asked to make decisions affecting the story. Back at their base, players can build battle items in the workshop, can train their troops to be more effective at the training grounds and more. Outside of story missions, players can raid other players’ bases to earn bonus resources, or join alliances with other users.

Tiny Empire ($2.99 on iOS, Android, Amazon) – From Mgaia Studio, Tiny Empire is a physics-based puzzle game in the style of Angry Birds, asking players to fire their cannon at orcs and other creatures. Levels become more complicated as players progress, and may challenge gamers to defeat creatures while not also hitting friendly soldiers on the battlefield, for instance. Players earn up to three stars on each stage, depending on their performance. Players will unlock new helms and cannons as they earn stars, or can skip the wait and purchase these items with gems, which are earned for free over time.

Sustainaville (Free on iOS) – Following the game’s launch on Android in July, this title from Save the Children and Good Game Productions is now available for iOS gamers. The level-based game sees players creating sustainable villages around the world by ensuring they have access to food, water and housing. Players have a limited amount of money, which carries with them across stages, and must spend this money on wells, farmlands, homes and more, to meet the specific requirements for each level. Players receive some extra money as rewards for completing stages, or can purchase additional funds with real money, with the game’s proceeds going to Save the Children.

Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers 20th Anniversary Edition (Free on Amazon) – Following the game’s release on iPad and Android tablets in July, this title from Pinkerton Road Studio and Phoenix Online Studios is now available for Kindle owners. The game follows struggling author Gabriel Knight, who is challenged to investigate a series of killings in New Orleans, while also discovering their connection to the world of voodoo. The base game is available to download for free, and contains Day 1 of the adventure. The rest of the game’s content is available via in-app purchase: Days 2-3 for $2.99, Days 4-6 for $3.99 and Days 7-10 for $3.99.

On the Run (Free on iOS, Android, Windows Phone) – From Miniclip, On the Run is an endless racing game challenging players to swipe left or right, or tap on buttons, to move through multiple lanes of traffic while running from the police. Players are also racing against the clock, and must reach distance checkpoints to receive bonus time and keep going. As players race, they’ll collect coins which can be spent on upgrades for their vehicle, or new vehicles altogether.

Sage Solitaire (Free on iOS) – From developer Zach Gage, Sage Solitaire combines Klondike solitaire with poker, asking players to clear all of the cards in each game by making poker hands with the top cards from each pile. These hands include things like pairs and straights, but don’t require players to clear five cards at once. The game board displays three rows of three cards each, for nine cards in total, with hands requiring players to pick cards from at least two rows to be legal moves. Players can strategically throw away a limited number of cards to reveal new options for hands, and will receive bonus points for clearing entire piles. When players are stuck, a hint system is available for revealing an available move.

Feed My Alien (Free on iOS) – From BluBox Games and Promineo Studios, Feed My Alien offers a twist on match-three gameplay, as players work to feed their alien by creating lines of matching symbols which connect two key areas on the game board. That is, players aren’t asked to create lines of three-or-more shapes; instead, they work to create long lines, which begin and end in highlighted areas. Levels are move based, and challenge players to complete specific requirements (like earning a large number of points) before running out of moves. Feed My Alien offers 120 levels at launch.
