Facebook: Here’s How to Prioritize Friends, Pages in Your News Feed

Follow our guide to see specific friends and pages first in your News Feed

Did you know that the Facebook application allows you to prioritize specific friends and pages so that you see their posts first in your News Feed? Our guide will show you how this is done.

Note: These screenshots were captured in the Facebook app on iOS.

Step 1: Tap the three horizontal lines in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Step 2: Tap “Settings.”

Step 3: Tap “News Feed Preferences.”

Step 4: Tap “Prioritize who to see first.” This will take you to a list of your friends and “liked” Facebook pages. Note: Users or pages that you’ve unfollowed won’t appear in this list.

Step 5: Scroll through the list until you find a friend or page you wish to prioritize, and tap their profile picture to flag them as “see first.” A star will appear next to their profile picture. If you tap the wrong picture or change your mind about flagging a friend or page as “see first,” tap their profile picture again to remove the star.

Finally, if you need help finding the friend or page you wish to prioritize, scroll down slowly until a search bar and sort button appear at the top of the screen. Tap the search bar to search for a friend or page, or tap the sort button to sort and/or filter your “see first” list.

The image below shows the available sorting and filtering options.
