Erika Hayasaki Recycles for LA Times--Again

Erika Hayasaki is still reporting on all the news fit to print in the New York Times. Of course, since she writes for the Los Angeles Times–well, you can see the problem.

Free-lunch Foragers Sept. 11, 2007, LAT

Not Buying It June 21, 2007, NYT (full text here)

(LA Observed points out the slight difference in the stories.)

Hayasaki also wrote about blogger/cabbie Melissa Plaut and her book. So did Bob Minzesheimer in USA Today about a week earlier.

Her August 28th piece on contest king, Jay Sokolow, was foreshadowed by a Hartford Courant piece of July 19.

Astute readers, unlike the LAT editors, may recall similar situations in July and in May, only the NY Sun had the original piece. Check out our earlier posts linked below.

Why can’t the LA Times find a reporter in New York who can break original stories?
