PC World’s report on Asus’ decision quotes Asus saying that the decision to pause Android based netbook development is because of limited engineering resources. They also report on conflicting statements about whether Qualcomm had permission to display an Asus Snapdragon driven netbook (instead of the usual Atom processor) running Android

Meanwhile, Reuters reports that Acer is set to start selling their Android-based netbook in the third quarter of this year.
