WhatsApp Starts Letting Users Set Photos, Videos as ‘View Once’

WhatsApp introduced a new View Once feature that, precisely as its name suggests, enables viewers to set photos or videos to disappear from chats once they are viewed once.

The Facebook-owned messaging application said in a blog post Tuesday that View Once—which will be rolled out to all users this week—was introduced to give people an extra privacy option, as well as to preserve storage space on their devices, writing, “Not everything we share needs to become a permanent digital record.”
