Allison Miller joined Reddit as chief information security officer and vice president of trust.

Miller had been senior vp of engineering at Bank of America, where she oversaw technology design and engineering delivery for the firm’s information security organization, addressing issues on the consumer side, including account security, authentication, fraud, malware, phishing and spam, as well as those affecting large platforms, such as application security, monitoring strategies, perimeter defenses and vulnerability management.

She also held technical and leadership roles at Google, Electronic Arts, Tagged/MeetMe, PayPal/eBay and Visa International.

At Reddit, she will report to chief technology officer Chris Slowe and oversee the safety and security teams, responsible for expanding trust and safety operations and data security, along with evolving programs to mitigate security challenges and risks.

She will also be tasked with redesigning Reddit’s trust frameworks and transparency efforts.

Former Reddit chief information security officer Sean Catlett left the company last October to become chief security officer at Slack.

Slowe said in a statement, “We’re overjoyed to have Allison bring her extensive technical acumen and executive leadership to the Reddit family. She will play an instrumental role in helping to ensure that our platform is safe for our users, trusted to act with integrity and secure against adversaries big and small.”

Miller added, “I’m excited to be joining Reddit’s team, and this is a great time to jump into the mix. Looking at the last year alone, it has been impressive to watch the pace of infrastructure and feature launches to meet the demands of new customers and increasing traffic on Reddit. Now is the perfect time to make sure that the platform’s security and trust systems are flexible and resilient enough to support the next phase of transformation. I see a huge opportunity to help scale the platform’s safety infrastructure, strengthen existing cybersecurity measures and improve the suite of capabilities that protect Redditors, their accounts and the integrity of their communities.”
