New users signing up for Reddit will have the option of adding their gender identity to their account during the creation process, with a variety of options to choose from, including a free-form field and skipping the process altogether.

The platform said in its summary of updates from March 17 through 30 that these gender selections will not be publicly displayed, but they will be used along with other information provided during the signup process to determine the recommendations new Redditors see in their feeds.
