Meta pulled the plug on Facebook’s attempt to return to its roots, as users of Facebook Campus—the dedicated section in the flagship Facebook application for students at select schools, with profiles separate from main Facebook profiles—began receiving in-app notifications that Campus would be shut down March 10.

Facebook Campus was only open to people with @.edu email addresses from the schools where it was available, but it was not a separate app. Users accessed it via the More section in the main Facebook app.
