Meta introduced a new way to circumvent commissions on in-application purchases from Apple’s App Store or Google Play with its Stars store website, which lets people buy Stars—virtual items that enable fans to support creators during videos and livestreams—using Facebook Pay, and not the payment functionality of Apple or Google.

Previously, Stars could only be purchased in-app on mobile devices that were subject to the app store’s revenue share rules, but using Facebook Pay via the Stars store site avoids those requirements.
