LinkedIn gives users the option to share personal demographic information about themselves with the social networking platform. This includes information related to things like race, gender, sexual orientation, military status and more.

When a user shares their personal demographic information with LinkedIn, it will be kept private from other users. The LinkedIn application says it will use the information to “understand and improve how different people experience LinkedIn, identify and address potential bias and provide insights on what we’ve learned.”
