Instagram to Take Action on Potentially Problematic Posts That Don’t Violate Its Guidelines

Instagram is taking stronger action against individual posts that may not necessarily violate its community guidelines but could contain bullying or hate speech, or encourage violence.

Those posts will be shown lower in feed and Stories, as will feed posts that could potentially be upsetting to users based on their history of reporting content.

Posts are only removed when they run afoul of the platform’s community guidelines, and users are informed if their posts are removed. This week’s changes only impact individual posts, not accounts.

Instagram explained in a blog post, “We rank content in your feed based on how likely we think you are to interact with a post in different ways, like commenting, liking and saving.
