Meta began informing Facebook users via email and in-application notifications that several older, location-based features are being sunsetting May 31.

Background Location, Location History, Nearby Friends and Weather Alerts are all on the chopping block at the end of this month.

The social network told users information they shared to use those features will no longer be collected after May 31, but it will continue to collect location information for other users, directing people to its data policy for more details.

Users who want to view or delete their existing Location History must do so before Aug.
