Facebook Begins Its Test of Reducing Distribution of Political Content in News Feed

CEO Mark Zuckerberg said during Facebook’s fourth-quarter-2020 earnings call last month that the social network was “considering steps we could take to reduce the amount of political content in News Feed,” and the company said Wednesday that testing along those lines is underway.

Product management director Aastha Gupta said in a Newsroom post Wednesday that the process will start by temporarily reducing distribution of political content in News Feed for “a small percentage” of people in Brazil, Canada and Indonesia this week, with the U.S.
