YouTube Reveals A Snapshot Of US Politics In Town Hall Infographic

A new infographic from YouTube reveals United States political statistics gleaned from YouTube Town Hall over the past couple of months.

Back in May, head-to-head political debate made its way to YouTube with the launch of YouTube Town Hall.  Over the last couple of months, via Town Hall, YouTubers have been able to ask questions of Congress members, listen to their responses and vote, without being told whether the representative answering is a Democrat or Republican.  Today, YouTube has released an infographic featuring some of the party and voting statistics that have been gleaned from YouTube Town Hall.

YouTube Town Hall: By The Numbers is based upon data from 50 videos from representatives across the United States, which accrued a total of 1.3 million views.  It reveals which topics were most important to American viewers, the total views for Republicans vs. Democrats, as well as the total votes for each party, and more.  Some of the key findings were as follows:

  • Republicans received the most views, clocking in at 1.3M
  • Democrats received the most votes
  • The topic that Americans wanted to hear about the most was the economy, followed by energy, Afghanistan, education and immigration
  • Senator Jerry Moran’s response to the question of which sectors are most important for American economic growth was the most popular video in the YouTube Town Hall, with over 343,000 views

Check out the full infographic below and let us know what you think.  I think the stats provide a nice snapshot of the current state of politics in the United States and I think it’s cool that all this was gleaned from YouTube.  What do you think?
