YouTube Increases Facebook Connect Functionality

-YouTube Logo-While YouTube first implemented Facebook Connect on their site last June, the company has since increased the functionality, including the ability to find what YouTube videos your Facebook friends are sharing. According to the official YouTube blog, “knowing which videos your friends are sharing on social platforms is one of the best ways to discover those clips that you, in turn, just might feel compelled to pass along.”

While some of these features have been available for some time now, YouTube is promoting the features more heavily. Now when users log in to the site, they’ll receive an “invitation in the Recent Activity module to connect to Facebook”. It’s a pretty slick feature and it’s one that I’m sure plenty of users will end up taking advantage of.

As you’ve probably seen in your feed, YouTube happens to be one of the most popular tools for sharing content within Facebook. For YouTube to have such a prominent implementation of Facebook Connect is significant. Most of the sites who implement Facebook Connect effectively find that the overall engagement on the site increases dramatically.

You can go check out the new YouTube Connect functionality by logging in to your YouTube account right now. Also, thanks to ReadWriteWeb for calling attention to this great new functionality.
