Have you ever wasted hours sitting in front of your computer clicking from suggested YouTube video to suggested YouTube video until you realize you are watching videos that have absolutely nothing to do with where you began? If so, you aren’t alone. Tons of people, just like you, suffer from YouTube ADD.

YouTube’s suggestions are great for finding related videos – such as more videos of cats on treadmills when you are watching a video of a cats on a treadmill. But they are also great for getting you off track and sending you on an adventure of random video content discovery. For instance, I started out clicking to watch the hugely popular laughing baby video ‘Hahaha’ when I noticed that YouTube was suggesting that I watch a video called ‘Marcy’s Waxing Salon’ so I clicked on it. Then YouTube suggested I watch a video called ‘Paris Hilton is Hot for Lesbians’, and there you have it! I went from cute babies to hot lesbians in just three clicks.

I probably wouldn’t be the first to tell you that “Suggestions Hopping” can be a huge waste of time. However, you could also ask whether our drawn-out YouTube sessions really are such a waste of time. I’ve discovered so many interesting videos through clicking on random suggested videos that have taught me so many interesting facts and introduced me to so many interesting people, ideas and scenarios.

I decided to create a flow chart of one of my own YouTube Suggestions hopping adventures. As you can see in the chart below, I started out watching a funny dog video called ‘Bizkit the Sleep Walking Dog’ (one of my favorites!). YouTube suggested I might like to see an ‘Amazing Dog Birth’, so I watched that as well (yuck!). From there, I discovered a fascinating video about a girl with two faces, which led me to a killer home chest workout video and next thing I new I was watching a video of a woman popping her eyes out of the sockets, which YouTube suggested for me. That led me to the popular Sneezing Panda video, which led me to a very angry cat and, surprise of all surprises, YouTube suggested I go right back to the funny dog video where I began! Had I not gone on this little adventure I would never have any clue that a baby could be born with two faces, how to get killer pecs, or what it looks like when a dog gives birth!

Check out the flowchart of my YouTube adventures below and let me know in the comments whether you’ve got YouTube ADD! What is the most bizarre YouTube video you’ve ever discovered while suggestions hopping?
