With JoikuSpot, Phones Become Hotspots

Finnish mobile software outfit Joikusoft has unveiled JoikuSpot, an application that turns Symbian S60 smartphones into hotspots, allowing them to wirelessly share their Internet connections with compatible devices including laptops, other smartphones and even the iPod touch, 3G.co.uk reports.

When a WLAN device is turned on, it can detect a nearby JoikuSpot connection as it would any other Wi-Fi network.

Essentially, the phone with JoikuSpot installed becomes an instant hotspot that can provide Internet access pretty much anywhere.

The company is offering JoikuSpot as a free download to the Joiku community, which is reportedly made up of hundreds of thousands of users worldwide.
