Viacom Launches ‘Comedy’ Companion, Atom.com

Viacom has relaunched AtomFilms.com, the longtime showcase for independent short-form video, as Atom.com, which will now serve as the Web companion to Comedy Central–centered around original and licensed funny clips.

MTV Networks officials are touting Atom.com as a venue for new talent discovery, a site where up-and-coming comedy artists can produce content that might someday make it to TV (in fact, earlier this week, Comedy Central premiere Atom TV, a half-hour series featuring a variety of off-the-wall, edgy comedic clips). Essentially, the new Atom reincarnates Motherload, ComedyCentral.com
