VH1, foursquare in Perfect Harmony

Cable music network VH1 and location-based mobile app foursquare teamed up to create the VH1 Fanatic Badge, which will encourage foursquare users who follow VH1 to compete for it by checking in at more than 10,000 music venues, from rock clubs to concert halls.
foursquare users who unlock the badge will be able to enter the VH1’s Unlock It to Rock It Sweepstakes, which runs through Sunday, Oct. 10, and allows entrants to vie for the prize of VIP access to unlimited concerts at one participating venue for one year.
Artists taking part in the initiative include Kelly Rowland, Civil Twilight, Secondhand Serenade, Shontelle, Taylor Locke of Rooney, Casey of Alpha Rev, Angel Taylor, and VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown host Jim Shearer. National Football League superstar Terrell Owens of The T.O. Show, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas of What Chilli Wants, and Fantasia for Real star Fantasia are also participating.

VH1 executive vice president, creative group and consumer marketing Nigel Cox-Hagan said:

VH1 is the music source for adults on all of our platforms, so we are excited to extend that strength into the social-media world with the new VH1 music badge on foursquare. The VH1 Fanatic Badge and VH1 Unlock It to Rock It Sweepstakes are perfect ways for music fans everywhere to get tips from their favorite VH1 celebrities and insiders about music venues and upcoming concerts in their areas. There are so many amazing music venues in the United States, and we want our audience to continue to support live music. By working with foursquare, we are able to share a wide range of music knowledge about artists and venues in a fun, engaging way.
