Vevo is stepping up this fall by launching its biggest original content offering to date.
The online music-video streaming service announced in a blog post that the programming contains more than 100 new episodes covering “music, fashion, lifestyle and everything in between.”
“This is an exciting time at Vevo as we unveil our biggest season of original series to date, many of which were first announced during the Upfronts in May,” said Doug McVehil, SVP of content and programming at Vevo. “This slate of brand-new shows, along with new episodes from our popular returning series, reinforces Vevo’s stature as the place that connects music fans with their favorite artists through music programming that can be enjoyed online and on our apps.”
The new schedule includes Vevo’s first animated series, “A.K.A,” which features artists like Iggy Azalea, Neon Trees and Avicii, who explain how they came up with their stage names.
Vevo follows in the footsteps of Hulu and Netflix, the latter garnering acclaim for original programming like “Orange is the New Black.” As those companies work to find their identities, so does Vevo.
“We want to make things that are clearly a Vevo product,” McVehil told CNET. “Vevo shows should be like the cool friend that knows everything about music, that isn’t a snob about it.”
Two new shows have been added to Vevo’s lineup. “Super Fan Showdown,” which is what its title suggests, and “High Fives,” a weekly show where popular comedians countdown their five favorite music video moments.
Other programming includes the return of:
- “Day Off With,” a Fuze-sponsored show that features artists and what they love to do on their days off.
- “Vevo DSCVR,” which gives viewers a new way to connect with music’s up-and-comers with exclusive interviews.
- “Stylized,” which explores the intersection of music and lifestyle with artists and designers.
