Verizon Home Monitoring & Control Service Can be Controlled from a Smartphone – Could Someone Hack Your Home from One Too?

Verizon doesn’t give much of a preview of how a smartphone can work with its home control service in the video embedded above. But, they do say that the service will enable customers to lock doors remotely; see what’s going on at home via networked cameras; and set, adjust and control lights, smart thermostats and appliances — all by using a smartphone or a computer or through FiOS TV.

New Verizon Home Monitoring and Control Service Will Make the Concept of the ‘Connected Home’ a Reality

Verizon’s press release says the service is expected to be available in the first half of 2011.

I wonder though, what kind of security system, security backup, and backup to the backup Verzion will put in place to prevent someone from hacking their system and taking control of your home?
