Twitter To Open London Office, Now Hiring

Twitter has begun recruiting for posts in a new UK office in London (East or West, depending on what you read), which is expected to serve the commercial interests of the platform in Europe, reports Media Week.

Vacancies include account executive, business development in mobile and electronics, communications management and sales.

London faced competition from Dublin for the high-profile venture, winning out in a closely-fought battle.

The required staff number is not yet known but the team is likely to be headed up by Katie Jacobs Staunton, Twitter’s head of international strategy, who is also a special advisor to the US State Department of Innovation (and counts Barack Obama as a former employer).

The London office is set to open early in 2012 and is intended to be a base for Twitter to focus on growing its international presence, notably in advertising.
